Great start ruined by technical problems

The last meeting of the DSMEC season was held at Circuit Zolder on November 14. This Zolder 10h race was crucial for BRV/Autokrant Racing. A top 3 place was still possible after the bad race at Assen. Drivers Aerts/Vermeeren/Dodemont put in a great deal of effort but technical problems ruined their race again.
Qualifying went not like expected… the three young drivers managed a 14th place in class 4.
Bruno Vermeeren: “I only had one goal after qualifying: a great start in order to climb up in 1st position as fast as possible! And I did it on a wet track, from 14th place to 1st place thanks to our good pace which was one to three seconds faster than our opponents. Tom kept me informed by radio and I felt great in the car.”
After 1h40 the track became dry and Bruno was called in for a driver change and fresh tyres.
Jordy Dodemont: “It was my turn now to achieve a good stint. My laps were perfect and I conquered P1 again. We lost some valuable time during our pit stop leaving the pit lane in only 9th position. After 2h15 I came in for fuel and a driver change. Like this Tom would be able to take the points for P1 after five hours.”
Tom Aerts: “I had one hour to put myself in P1 again in order to take those valuable points at mid-race. The car was perfect and I progressed from 9th place to 3rd in twenty minutes. Then the problems occurred... I lost some power again just like past race in Assen! I took 3rd place at mid-race and came in for a driver change with Jordy. Before my next stint Bruno told me the car had to be continuously resetted in order to solve the problem we were encountering. Not the best way to battle for a top 3 position in the championship. We then decided to keep the car in the box and only drive the remaining five minutes of the race to finish in 9th position.”
BRV/Autokrant: “Our second car with De Craecker-Fievez-Daemen-Verpoort finished 12th place. It was not an easy race for us but our drivers did the maximum… It’s a pity because victory was possible! We started the season in a great way but lost precious points during the second half of the championship due to technical problems. Let’s work towards 2010 now!”
